Postulate 1 — Time Is the Fundamental Field of Reality

CTT begins with the claim that time itself is the basic field from which everything else arises.
Time is not a background stage, nor a dimension we travel through—it is the active medium that makes the universe possible. Space, matter, energy, and even consciousness only exist because of the behaviour of this underlying temporal field.

Postulate 2 — Only the Present Moment Exists

In CTT, the past is not “stored somewhere,” and the future is not waiting to unfold. They do not exist. What exists is the present moment—the latest state of reality produced by the temporal field.
All experience, interaction, and physical process take place in this single, ever-renewing now.

Postulate 3 — Reality Is Recreated Continuously

The universe does not persist as a static, ongoing thing. Instead, it is continuously renewed, moment by moment, by the dynamics of the temporal field. This renewal process updates every particle, every field, and every pattern of existence—creating the appearance of smooth continuity while, at its foundation, being a sequence of constant re-instantiations.

Postulate 4 — Time Has Two Complementary Modes of Expression

The temporal field behaves in two inseparable ways:

  • Θ_E: The Renewing Mode
This mode is responsible for recreating the universe at every moment. It drives change, motion, expansion, and the forward flow of existence.

  • Θ_S: The Structuring Mode
This mode holds patterns stable across each renewal. It preserves geometry, physical laws, memory, identity, and all the structures we recognise in the universe.

All physical and experiential phenomena arise from the interplay of these two modes—renewal shaping the new moment, and structure guiding what carries forward.

Postulate 5 — Persistence Depends on Structure, Not Substance

Nothing in the universe persists as a literal, unbroken substance. What continues across renewal is pattern—a stable arrangement encoded in Θ_S. Matter, identity, memory, and physical laws endure from moment to moment only because their structures are sufficiently coherent to be re-instantiated each time.
Continuity is structural, not material.

Postulate 6 —There Is a Universal Maximum Renewal Rate

Reality can only update so fast. The upper limit of renewal is set by the Planck scale, giving a maximum tempo of:

f_max = c / ℓ_P ≈ 1.85 × 10⁴³ renewals per second

This limit underlies the cosmic speed limit.
Light travels at c, not because it is special, but because its minimal structure allows it to propagate at the fastest possible speed. Nothing can exceed the tempo at which reality itself updates.

Postulate 7 —Dense Structure Reduces Local Renewal Participation

Where matter accumulates or patterns become increasingly complex, the structuring mode Θ_S becomes more resistant to change. Renewal (Θ_E) remains universal and constant, but dense structures cannot participate in every possible renewal cycle.

As a result, local systems undergo fewer successful renewals per second. Within the CTT framework, this provides an explanation for gravitational and relativistic time dilation: the present remains unified, while clocks embedded within dense or highly energetic systems record fewer moments.

Postulate 8 —The Arrow of Time Emerges from Renewal

Since the universe is constantly recreated in a single direction—from one renewed moment to the next—causation and the arrow of time naturally arise. The future is open because it has not yet been renewed, while the past cannot be revisited because it no longer exists. The flow of time is not a separate feature of reality; it is a direct consequence of the renewal process itself.
